Fixing Messy Data &
Building Real Systems

Victor Algaze

About Me

I'm an independent engineer and consultant.

Most organizations don't have technology problems.

They have process problems, communication problems, and information problems.

My work sits at the intersection of all three.

For more than a decade I've built software, conversational systems, and automation tools that help organizations operate more effectively. Today I do that through 29 Court Consulting, where I help organizations untangle complicated workflows and build systems that people actually trust and use.

I also maintain numerous open-source projects and regularly write about AI, software, and the work behind the work.

Experience Highlights

IoT Prototype

IoT Management Prototype

Build
Led rapid development of Cisco Live's flagship IoT management prototype, delivering both a mobile and augmented reality interface from "soup to nuts" in just 7 weeks despite limited UX resources.
Result
The solution became the standout hit of the conference, with 87% of surveyed customers willing to pay for it and explicit "I want to buy this now" feedback from C-suite stakeholders.
Impact
The implementation established a reference architecture for Cisco's efforts in this space with teams from all geographies requesting customized demonstrations for their specific client needs.
Disney StudioLab

Studio-Grade Collaboration

Partnership
Facilitated a strategic collaboration with Disney's StudioLab and Imagineering teams to advance production platforms during streaming's inflection point.
Build
Built (oftentimes with a power-drill in hand) immersive floor-to-ceiling remote creative collaboration video spaces at Cisco HQ.
Challenge
Worked with network engineering on studio-grade reliability tech protecting Marvel/Star Wars assets during remote VFX reviews while engineering solutions to Disney's legendary security protocols.
Impact
Ensured raw footage remained secure and legacy workflows stayed intact amid explosive content demand.
Client Workshop

LLM Security & GenAI Adoption

Education
Spearheaded LLM security and GenAI adoption at Cisco, educating thousands on AI risks and opportunities while developing prompt engineering (and also injection) training and talks accessible to both technical and non-technical staff.
Community
Led the GenAI Engineering Forum, bringing together experts from Cisco Research and across the company to trade notes and best practices during a time of massive technology transition.
Impact
Served as the go-to consultant for multiple business units, guiding projects while establishing critical governance and responsible use guardrails to protect sensitive data.

Conversational AI Teardown

A technical teardown and UX evaluation of a public sector virtual assistant. This analysis highlights core challenges in conversational design and proposes AI-driven solutions to improve user experience.

This evaluation demonstrates a practical approach to bridging advanced agentic capabilities with real-world user needs and institutional constraints.
